2018 Ford F-150 Has Great Looks & First-Ever Diesel Powertrain

The first thing you notice about the updated 2018 Ford F-150 is the exterior. Several appearance packages allow drivers to customize their trucks with unique grilles: classic chrome, sporty black mesh, or body color. New headlights and tailgate complete its facelift.

The rugged power these new styles hint at is no joke—six powertrain options are available, and most are new or improved. The 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 is returning with the same 450 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque, but the 2.7-liter EcoBoost has gained 25 pound-feet of torque over the previous generation for a total of 400 pound-feet, lower in the rev band.

One of the two all-new engines debuting on the 2018 F-150 is a 3.0-liter Power Stroke® Diesel, which will be available a few seasons after the truck's fall launch in the spring of 2018.

This is exciting news for truck enthusiasts who prefer the feel and sound of a diesel engine over Ford's signature turbocharged EcoBoost alternative. It's the first time in the F-150's multi-decade history that a diesel powertrain will be offered.
